Job Description The Art Director is responsible for partnering with internal teams and clients to design, execute and deliver innovative healthcare and pharmaceutical medical and marketing initiatives.​ In this role, the Art Director will be required to understand client challenges and collaborate with the creative team to conceptualize, design, and execute print and digital initiatives.​ The Art Director possesses the ability to take abstract concepts and turn them into exciting, cutting-edge designs that are representative of the client’s goals, objectives, and brand guidelines.​ In most cases, the Art Director will be required to work closely with copywriters, internal teams and oversee other designers to deliver scientifically and clinically sound creative solutions that produce desired behavior change and measurable outcomes. Job Duties<ul><li>Engage with clients to understand their brand(s), key messages, and creative vision to turn complex insights, data, and messages into compelling stories for a variety of audiences, including patients and healthcare professionals</li><li>Collaborate with internal departments, such as creative, accounts, project management, medical, and editorial</li><li>Obtain an understanding of the therapeutic area and target audience of the products they manage</li><li>Conceptualize and brainstorm innovative brand experiences and maintain the consistency of brands across all marketing materials</li><li>Assist Account Services in the creation of the Strategic Alignment Brief and ensure that all projects under this brief are consistently upholding the strategy</li><li>Develop brand style guidelines and ensure internal teams and external partners stay compliant</li><li>Collaborate and manage outside vendors (printers, photographers, video editors, writers, designers, PowerPoint specialists and illustrators) to ensure quality deliverables and adherence to timeline and budget</li><li>Design (or direct the creation of) solutions that go beyond what is expected</li><li>Partner with copywriters to establish or evolve ideas, create sketches or storyboards that convey relevant concepts</li><li>Review all materials associated with a project and provide feedback as needed</li><li>Provide final project sign-off, ensuring adherence with creative direction and QA process</li><li>Present work, provide design rationale, and defend work in creative reviews or meetings</li><li>Present creative deliverables to clients and relay feedback to internal teams</li><li>Ensure adherence to project timelines, scopes and budgets</li><li>Act as point person and manage the execution of all Synchrony Healthcare work</li><li>Keep current with trends in advertising, branding, design, and digital technologies and new media</li><li>Identify staffing needs, manage resource allocations, prepare the proper documentation and reconcile contractor invoices to ensure accuracy</li><li>Lead, mentor, and manage direct reports and subcontractors</li></ul>Key Competencies <ul><li>A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills</li><li>Ability to provide management direction and developmental support to direct reports in preparation for future positions; self-motivated</li><li>Ability and desire to participate and interact effectively on a team</li><li>Flexibility with schedule and ability to travel (travel n/a for now)</li><li>High energy level and team player </li></ul>Qualifications Requirements<ul><li>Degree in Visual Communication, Graphic Arts, or a related course of study is preferred</li><li>Minimum of 5 years of studio design experience, preferably in medical communications</li></ul>Preferred Skills/Experience<ul><li>Agency experience on pharmaceutical accounts preferred</li><li>Familiarity with agency workflow process</li></ul>Working Conditions<ul><li>Ability to travel as client needs require</li><li>Ability to attend and conduct presentations</li><li>Ability to commit to extra and/or nontraditional hours as client needs require </li></ul>Additional Information Synchrony places high value on the well-being of its employees;
